  • If you don’t have an Android phone, just purchase our 247 Billboard® proximity marketing devices.
  • No, you do not need an Android phone to use 247 Billboard®.
  • 247 Billboard® offers proximity marketing beacon devices that transmit your messages.
  • Android phones with Bluetooth 4.0 can receive messages.
  • Android phones with system 4.3 and above are all supported.
  • Proximity Marketing Devices, or Beacons, are not new.
  • The technology has been used since 2014 by stadiums, universities and large companies.

  • Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances using short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz.
  • A device must be equipped with the Bluetooth chip that is compatible with Bluetooth 4.0.
  • Bluetooth Low Energy, also marketed as Bluetooth Smart, is a power-friendly version of Bluetooth wireless technology perfect for devices that need to run off a small battery for long periods of time.
  • BLE allows Bluetooth devices to broadcast or receive tiny static pieces of data within short distances.
  • BLE Advertising is a one-way communication method.
  • The major difference between the common Bluetooth technology and BLE is that BLE can only transmit small amounts of low energy data and information, unlike regular Bluetooth technology.
  • It consists of two parts: a broadcaster (beacon device) and a receiver (smartphone + app).
  • Smartphone apps detect the BLE signal from a device and calculate the approximate distance to the beacon device and act on the specific location – like presenting content to the smartphone user.
